Turkish Language Teaching Undergraduate Program

Process of Education

The Turkish Language Teaching Undergraduate Program admitted its first students with additional placement in the 2013 - 2014 academic year and produced first graduates in 2017. In this program, the education-training process consists of 8 semesters (4 years). Lessons; field courses,     general knowledge courses and vocational knowledge courses. Approximately 13% of lessons are optional. There are no applications such as "double major branch, side branch" in Turkish Language Teaching Undergraduate Program. Students are prepared for the profession with theoretical and practical courses they will take during their education. Internship learning is carried out through the "School Experience" in the 7th semester and "Teaching Practice" courses in the 8th semester. In both courses students are sent to various institutions of the Ministry of National Education for practice. All necessary preparations for the internship are made by the Department. Within the Farabi Student Exchange Program there  is an opportunity to study at another university (1 or 2 semesters).

The purpose of the program is to educate teachers who have knowledge, skills and qualifications required by the teaching profession; who are absorbed approaches, methods and techniques of Turkish teaching, who think creatively, critically and scientifically, who use information and communication technologies, communicate effectively with students and their environment, who work cooperately, have responsibilities, constantly follow innovations and developments in the field, and who enjoy reading and learning.

The teaching staff of the program was shaped in accordance with the courses in the curriculum. Every course is given care by the teaching staff who can teach best; when it is necessary, academic staff is demanded from other academic units. There are enough books to contribute to the professional and personal development of Turkish Language Teaching students in our university library.
